Victor Ruiz: we all should believe more in ourselves

Today we are pleased to welcome a mastermind of electronic music, Victor Ruiz!

Victor Ruiz's label VOLTA serves up a fantastic EP titled "Solar Deity"
this time with Balthazar & JackRock behind the three original tunes.

To mark the new release, we invited Victor Ruiz for a chat, enjoy!
Hello Victor! Great to have you with us for the first time! How are you today?
— Hello there! It's great to be here. Thanks for having me. I feel good, a bit jetlagged but feeling just fine.
You have your own label "VOLTA". How do you go about the A&R process? And do you have any specific goals and objectives you would like to achieve with the label?
— The goal of VOLTA was to provide a space where newcomers can have a chance to release their creations and showcase what they are capable of. The process is simple; good music that is not necessarily the same music that has been released elsewhere. If I like it, I will sign it. I road tested the tracks quite a lot before making a choice, but I also generally go back and fourth with the artists to try and improve technical aspects and even sometimes offer to help them more directly. I guess the connection and care is what makes every release so special on the label.

A big mission of the label is to help people, so 10% of all profit will go to charities and causes that the artists will choose to donate. It's a way for us to make a difference and start to spread consciousness in the electronic music scene.
You mark the beginning of march with the new release "Solar Deity" by Balthazar & JackRock coming on VOLTA. We really enjoyed listening to this EP! What else in the store for "Volta" for 2023?
— Happy to hear that! For the next ones we have more fresh blood coming. There's the duo ANDATA from Hamburg, there's Tao Andra from Romania, Martin Kinrus from Argentina and soon an EP from myself as well. Lots of things coming. Also starting to plan some events for 2023. Exciting times ahead!
What about yourself individually, are there any upcoming releases planned?
— Yes, I have a few things coming. On the 3rd March I have a remix I did with Tao Andra for the Iranian anthem "Baraye". It's a 100% charitable project that Human Rias and EXIT festival did to help the Iranian people. The original track is from Shervin Hajipour an Iranian musician that just won the Grammy for this song. I guess this is a beautiful way to start the year of releases.

Then in April I'll have my first EP on VOLTA that I'm just finishing. Also, I have a very exciting collab EP with the amazing producer Modea that will come out on Drumcode this year, but we don't have a date for that just yet.

Apart from that I just started a very exciting project regarding music but I can only tease you with saying that it's the biggest thing I've done so far, so stay tuned!
Where can we see you perform over the coming months? Any big tours planned?
— Oh, I'm just touring in the US now. I'll have my debut at Space Miami on the 24th February which is so exciting. Also, I have some upcoming gigs in Lebanon, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Turkey, UK, Canada.

In April I'll be back to NYC - which is a city I love to play, this time with Nicole Moudaber for her Into The Mood night at the Knockdown Center. Moreover, I have also some very cool gigs in the US. Halcyon in San Francisco and my debut at The Concourse Project in Austin, Texas. And for the Summer many festivals like Tomorrowland, Ikarus Festival and a very special festival that I can't disclose just yet. The hint is that it's in Portugal.
Can you tell us the top three tracks you will be playing in your upcoming gigs?
— ANDATA – 'Play Hard'

Martin Kinrus – 'Cosmic Energy' and, of course…

Balthazar & JackRock – 'Solar Deity'
To round off, is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
— There's so much to say. I guess the idea to share here is that we all should believe more in ourselves and less in what we think people think about us.

Often, we limit our lives thinking we might upset people or that we feel judged by others. None of that really matters. We are the ones that are living our lives, so go out and live your own.

You're the master of your own universe. If you want to do something, just go and do it. Don't care what people might think. All that matters is that you're happy and that are living your truth.
