MOTVS: we have so much fun when we make tracks!

MOTVS means movement in the ancient latin language, and that's the main goal that Leonardo and Claudio want to achieve with this project: make the people move. Radio Intense talked to the mighty duo about their production process in the studio, upcoming EP "Fade to Grey" on Codex and 2020 highlights.
Hello Claudio and Leonardo. Thanks for giving us this interview. How are things?
— Hello Radio Intense staff! Things could go better because the situation that we all are living right now, but luckily we're fine thanks! It's a real pleasure to be here fur us!
Tell us how is 2020 going for you considering everything what has happened?
— This year has been maybe the strangest and the worst one at the same time, but luckily we got our little space through this situation, having more time to make music "in a roll", so let's see the "good side" of the things haha!
Are you in Rome right now? How is the situation there? Has the city's nightlife changed a lot for the past months?
— Yes, we both were born and raised in Rome, a city that has heavily influenced us about our musical culture. Unfortunately nightlife has radically changed due the virus, we had the chance to perform at only one party in july then government decided to stop parties again... As in the whole country all clubs are closed, so let's hope that things will come back to normality as soon as possible.
Can you tell us what inspires your creativity to make music?
— We usually take inspiration from our roots, we really love the sound that comes from the early '00, labels like BXR and Tracid Traxxx were the ones that we followed most.
Tell us more about your work in studio. What equipment do you use? Can you guide us through the process of making one «MOTVS» track?
— We have 2 studios and when we can we work together, otherwise we can work by sending stuff between us, like if one of us has a good idea and start a new track then he sends the project to the other one, then we start building it... The most important thing is that we have so much fun when we make tracks! We work with some hardware stuff, like Virus TI, JP 8080 and Nord Lead 4, and as sequencers we use Cubase and Studio One. About the process to create a MOTVS track, therer isn't a specific method, normally we use to start a new project from the kickdrum and then we add some hihats and percussions, until we are satisfied with the groove that is coming up, but isn't rare that we create a good melody and we start from that.
Later this month you have a release coming on Codex. Where was the idea of "Fade to Grey» coming from?
— Good question! This is one of the cases when we started from the melody because we immediately recognized the potential in it, so we started to work around that.
It's your first appearance on Codex Recordings. How do you feel about the label?
— We're so happy and proud to have reached this renowned label! We really like the CODEX team and its way to work, for us is a huge step ahead and we feel that CODEX is a great spot to release our music!
What else have you got coming up?
— During these days we're on the way to finish a new solo EP, and we're working also on a collab ep with another artist. Both will be released before the end of the year.
