GHEIST: we just make the music we love and the rest happens naturally.

One of the most unique, impactful live acts in electronic music today, there seems to be no slowing of the insuperable creative force that defines GHEIST. Boasting a wealth of critically acclaimed releases on the likes of Watergate, Diynamic, Last Night on Earth, Mobilee, Stil Vor Talent and their very own RADAU imprint (to name a few), the in-form, Berlin-based production trio and live outfit now land on esteemed German imprint, Embassy One, for their eagerly anticipated label debut, with Only.
Out now, Only feels like the next chapter for GHEIST, on a road taken after their album Zukunft in November 2021. As the three-man outfit shows their exciting development from release to release, they leave their audience with high anticipation for everything to come. With more exciting releases on Embassy One on the horizon and an increasingly busy touring schedule, GHEIST look set to leave a truly indelible mark on live electronic music over the months and years to come.

We caught up with the guys to find out more...
Hello guys, and thanks for taking the time to chat to us. How has 2022 been for you so far? Any highlights?
— Hello and thank you for having us. 2022 has been good to us so far, we've been spending quite some time in the studio creating and reinventing our music. It also feels very good to be touring, to make people move and maybe even sing along. We had a few highlights so far, Extrema was one of them, another one was our US debut at the All Day I Dream Festival and we are sure there are many more to come.
Massive congratulations on your huge new single 'Only'. Can you talk to us through the release and what fans can expect when it drops?
— Thank you that's very kind. After our LP "Zukunft" it came very natural to us to shift our focus back to club music. So „Only" is made for the dancefloor, taking you on an emotional but still euphoric journey, that finds its undeniable high in its break. The song has a certain drive, relieing on a heavy but warm bass and at the same time feels honest and fragile, building up to a short vocal appearance. We started a new musical chapter in 2022 and "Only" is just the beginning of that.
Signing to Embassy One is a massive move for you guys. How did that come about?
— We have our studio next to their office. One day they came by and asked if we could borrow them some sugar… the rest is history ;)
Going back to your formative years, can you explain when and how you fell in love with electronic music? Was there a particular moment when the penny dropped?
— For each one of us it's been a different journey at different times. It's hard to recall a single moment, but feeling the collective energy in a room when everything just simply clicks, plays a big part in it. Another key element is the creative aspect of producing and composing electronic music, as it is sonicly very inspiring and challenging in equal meassures. It's impossible to imagine a world without that.
Why did you choose to pursue your particular brand of emotive, melodic, electronic music over other styles? What is it about the genre that you love so much?
— We didn't plan on making music for any specific genre, it's rarely the artist who thinks of categorizing himself. We just make the music we love and the rest happens naturally.
Looking forwards, do you have any specific goals or objectives you would like to achieve together?
— There are so many things to achieve as a group, it begins with the next track, our musical development, the next release and leads to great shows… But there is one thing that we are particulary looking forward to, the moment when we start touring entirely live, as a band playing concerts. This will be a great artistic, emotional and very special achievement for us.
You guys have been making music together for quite a while now. What roles do you each assume in the studio when you make a record together? Have these roles changed and evolved over the years?
— Yes we are friends and partners now for quite a while and we know about the different strength and skills each one of us posseses. That's something we can always rely on, but in the end it's a group effort and we're trying to mix things up most of the times. When you create music in a group it's key to stay open minded, as we are all individuals and we all evolve in a different way, just next to each other.
Do you specifically make records you want to play in your own sets, is there a direct link like that?
— Actually no. Being in the studio and producing music, feels very different to playing live. We love to come up with new versions, edits of the songs we like to perform, specificially created for live shows.
Where can we see you perform over the coming months? Any big tours planned?
— We be playing quite a few shows in the near future, in France, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Italy, Jordan, Uk, Sweden, North-and Southamerica and many more. We're truly looking forward to see as many of you as possible.
Finally, do you have any other projects coming up soon that you'd like to share with us?
— We have some collaborations going on with different artists, one of them are our good friends from Fideles. Other than that, we are also currrently working on a soundtrack for a movie. There are lots of exiting things happening right now and we are able share most of them with you by the end of this year.
