Emanuel Satie: the real Scenarios vibe is when everyone gives their special energy to the track

Maga, Sean Doron, Tim Engelhardt and Emanuel Satie deliver a warm but club-driven vibe on Disconnect. Brimming with emotive chords, tinkling piano notes and smooth drums, it's the kind of tune that's appropriate for a peak-time festival set under the sun or a packed-out afterparty.
We caught up with Emanuel Satie to find out more.
Hello Emanuel, it's great to have you with us today. How are things with you and what have you been up to so far today?
— I'm great, thank you, it's a very busy summer with lots of shows all over the world. Right now I'm in Berlin at my studio in between touring and have actually just finished a remix for Luciano and Michel Cleis I've been working on for a long time. I'm in this tired but euphoric state that I'm always in when finally finishing a track.
We're pleased to be chatting with you ahead of your forthcoming release alongside Maga, Sean Doron and Tim Engelhardt titled 'Disconnect'. What can people expect from this release?
— I would say people can expect the signature Scenarios sound, melodic, driving and catchy. For this one we have worked with singer Hannah Noelle, who is bringing a slight pop edge to the table. We really love this release and it's been getting plays already by many of the big guns like Black Coffee, Damian Lazarus, Andhim and so many more.
The track marks the third release on the newly formed Scenarios; the five person collective, record label and event series founded by yourself, Maga, Sean Doron, Tim Engelhardt and Yulia Niko. What's the story behind how Scenarios began?
— We've all been fans of each others music and/or good friends since quite some time. We all feel that so much more can be achieved when we work together, we're all believers in teamwork and so it was not a big step to start talking about a collective. Each one of us has their own strengths and we have established an amazing complementary dynamic now. The work feels effortless because we are 5 people and everyone does what they are best at.
As a five person collective, how do you decide who will work together on each track that is made and what is the creative process usually like thereafter?
— This happens completely organically. To be honest, most of the time it's something as mundane as who is in the same place at the same time. For example Maga was just in Berlin to visit friends, obviously we hit the studio and now we have two ideas cooking together. We try to meet in Lisbon all together as much as we can and start ideas from scratch together though, the real fun is when it's the 5 of us in the studio. It's not this big premeditated process though, we just do things naturally and keep an eye on everyone being represented roughly equal.
With the label now three releases in, what else is in store for Scenarios for 2022?
— We have a couple more releases finished already for this year. For us right now it's all about showcasing our sound consistently, we want to release every 6-8 weeks, so you can expect at least two more releases this year. On the other hand we are really pushing our events. We just had an incredible Scenarios villa afterparty in Ibiza, next up is a showcase in Los Angeles, then one at Burning Man, Lisbon and we are working on Tel Aviv, Tulum, Berlin and many more. We have a fantastic team working on the events side. We really see Scenarios as not only a label but an event series with an interesting concept as well.
Are there any members of the collective that haven't collaborated together yet, and if so do you think this will happen in the future?
— Yes 100% we will all collaborate with each other. So far we haven't released the five of us together, but we have two incredible tracks that are due to be released in October, where every one of us was in the studio in Lisbon together. For me this is the real Scenarios vibe, when everyone gives their special energy to the track.
What about yourself individually, is there anything else upcoming that you can share with us?
— Yes so many things are lined up, a lot of them I can't talk about at the moment. What I can say is that I'm also going to start my own label. This is two years in the making already, I pushed it back because of the Scenarios launch but now it's time. I have one year of music signed already. My goal with the label is to discover raw talent and help them get to the next level. I'm very active on the A&Ring side and give people a lot of feedback on their music trying to unlock their potential. This was how I was brought on the scene by DJ T. back then with Get Physical and it helped me immensely in my development as an artist. I want to give the same back to the next generation and play a small part in the future of our music.
Thank you for your time today Emanuel! Wishing all the best with the release of 'Disconnect' and we look forward to hearing more from you soon. To round off, is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
— Enjoy your summer, go dancing and have fun, we all need it after these years of Covid. And of course stream and buy Disconnect on your favourite platform. :)
