We talked to Adana Twins about the new release of their new single 'How Far can We Go' on Innervisions and other projects. Enjoy!
Hello guys and thanks for taking the time to chat to us. How has 2022 been for you so far? Any highlights?
— Hey guys, thanks for the invite. 2022 was really amazing so far. The summer was incredible and the best one we ever had. A highlight of this year was defo our gig at Levels in Porto Alegre. The Energy during that night was something else and we already counting the days to come back. Also Ushuaia was super nice. We really enjoyed it to play there to build up a wonderful vibe. And not to forget our first release on Innervisions this year which was one of our producer goals.
Where in the world are you right now?
— Right now I am in our Studio in Hamburg. It's 9am in the morning and after this interview I will work on a new colllabo.
Congratulations on the recent release of your new single 'How Far can We Go' on Innervisions. Can you talk to us through the release and how it came about?
— The story is really simple. After touring was becoming more regular again we also get more and more inspired from playing. And with the vibe of the last shows in mind and too much bored time in the train we started the first version on a train ride from Hamburg to Berlin. During the ride we finised the arrange and the main construction of the song. After we arrived we played it straight at our TAU Open Air and the reaction were simply fantastic. So the next week we went back to the studio for some mixing and fine-tuning before we sent it to Kristian and Steffen. After two weeks the first videos from the them playing it were popping up and two more week later Kristian wrote that they want to sign it for Innervisions.
Going back to your formative years, can you explain when and how you fell in love with electronic music? Was there a particular moment when the penny dropped?
— For me it was during my time in my old hometown Celle near Hannover. There was a store called „Street Sounds" and they sold Techno and House Vinyl. When digging through the records I really felt in love with that music. But I was still mostly going to HipHop or Breakdance Events cause we simply had not so many nice clubs for Electronic Music beside one big room location. With my movement to Hamburg I also came in touch with nice clubs and since then I don't wanted something else. I really loved the peaceful vibe.
What music (or artists) have played the biggest role in shaping you as artists over the years?
— For me of course all the music we play or all the music we listen to on the dancefloor. This is were I get my inspiration from. Beside this I still listen to Hip Hop and Pop Music which influences my a lot when it come to the melodic parts.
How would you describe your current sound, and why have you chosen to pursue this particular brand electronic music over other styles? What is it about the genre that you love so much?
— Hard to say. We were never really pressed into on genre or style of music as we love it to explore new sounds and styles. Two or three ago it was maybe Retro Future and today you maybe can call it good vibration music. But maybe friso can tell this better. hehe. I hate those question cause I never can answer them correct.
How's everything going with you label TAU? Any exciting projects in the pipeline that you can share?
— We are super happy how the label is growing and that we can work with such amazing artists. The feed we receive is great and we are pushing more and more our label nights. But we don't want it to grow to fast. It all should be the right balance. There is amazing stuff coming up from Darlyn Vlys, Hamburg nerd quadratschulz with a remix from Permanent Vacation boss Benjamin Fröhlich, a wonderful Lehar with a remix form us that shows our love for ballads and not to forgot Genish & Aldebaran with outstanding dancefloor weapons.
Any producers we should be keeping a close eye on?
—Genish & Aldebaran are super nice and extremely talented.
Looking forwards, do you have any specific goals or objectives you would like to achieve with the label?
—If we have in ten years the same success with the label like now I am super happy. Cause this would be the proof that we don't focus too much on hypes. Hypes are coming and going. But if you focus and your stuff and timeless music you will survive much more longer. Also it would be great to bring our showcase to more placed outside of Europe. And I think we are on a good was with that. And beside the music we try to do more stuff with TAU like merch or some nice content creation on our website that is starting soon.
And as artists?
—Same that counts for TAU counts also as an artists for us. But of course if we can get a residence on Ibiza I would not say no :) or if we get the chance to remix or produce more and more pop artists. For me that's a real challenge to make it not too cheesy but with class and style.
If you could put on your own show anywhere in the world, where would it be and who would you have joined you on the lineup?
—Burning Man sunrise at the Mayan Warriors and Robot Heart link up. We have been once there and its like a dream. Everything you see on the photos on Instagram is exactly how you expect it. Its a magical place you can't find somewhere else. I think we go next year again. Sadly we had to skip this year as our visa was expired and the new one will not arrive before October.
Where can we see you perform over the coming months? Any big tours planned?
—You can see us mostly in Europe until December. But during this time we also have a nice south America tour coming up, Israel, ADE and so much more. In December we will be going back the US and at the end of the year we will be back in India were the crowed entered our hears by storm since we started touring there.
Finally, do you have any other projects coming up soon that you'd like to share with us?
—Sadly noting official we can share right now – besides that we're working on an album. Can't say yet when it will be finished though. Its our first album and we will take our time. And in the meantime we will shorten the wait with EPS and Remixes.
Thank you guys, we wish you all the best!
—THANK YOU <3
